ExoVasc® Personalised External Aortic Root Support

The ExoVasc® Personalised External Aortic Root Support is a revolutionary new device. It is designed to manage aortic dilation in people with Marfan syndrome and related genetic conditions.

The ExoVasc® is placed around the ascending aorta where it provides support to the patient’s own aorta and aortic valve and is designed to prevent enlargement and rupture.

This innovation developed by Exstent Limited sets a new standard in the surgical management of the dilated aorta. More than 70 patients have now received their ExoVasc® support and its effectiveness is proven by a total of over 300 patient-years’ experience gained during the past decade.

Commenting specifically on the Personalised External Aortic Root Support (PEARS) he argues that, following a precedent set in a recent Supreme Court case, surgeons have a responsibility to provide information on all appropriate medical procedures to allow the patient to make an informed decision. He suggests that patients should be made aware of the PEARS option. You can read the article here.
